Quick update to original info.

Everyone, here is some additional information regarding the cruise to Ensenada in November. I forgot to mention the rooms with a balcony. The cost for these is $503.20 per person or $1006.40 per room. Also, if you choose to fly and need transportation from the airport (additional fees) $34.99 (one way) or $69.98 ( round trip).

Everyone, I spoke to Patty at Carnival about the cruise we are interested in on 11/10/23 to 11/13/2023 from LA to Ensenada, Mexico. The rates are below (includes all port fees, but not tips for service stewards) and all regular dining.  What is not included is the drink package or specialty meals those can be added.

Interior-$358 per person or $716 per room (all rooms based on double occupancy)

Ocean (mini suite) $418.20 per person or $836.40 per room (all rooms based on double occupancy)

Suite- $788.20 per person or $1576.40 per room (all rooms based on double occupancy)

I also asked Patty if passports are required, so told me they are not required but recommended. The minimum you need is your certified birth certificate and a legal picture ID. My opinion is getting a passport, if at all possible, it is so much easier. The next step is we need to get a "headcount" on how many people are interested in the cruise above? If we commit to 8 rooms, we will then be working with Carnival Group Sales which will have possible benefits. They would be guaranteed room rates, a customer service agent for our group (help scheduling a possible group get together), and if we all book as a group we all can get a possible rebate credited back to your shipboard account or credit card. This would only be possible if we have minimum 8 rooms booked and all rooms paid for. If we do not meet the 8-room minimum, we will not get the benefits but can still book the rooms through Patty. So, I have a couple questions below that needs to be answered. Please respond to my email (lhall123@comcast.net ) if you are interested in "hard commitment" only. I need an answer by March 1st so we can figure a direction we need to go. This is not officially booking anyone yet, but we just need a firm commitment on the interest. I will have more information on booking after March 1st.

1) Are you interested in 11/10 to 11/13 cruise?

2) What type of room? (Interior, Mini suite, Suite etc)

3) Are you interested in get together on ship?

4) How many in your party?

Thanks,

Bill Hall (lhall123@comcast.net)

Hello fellow potential cruisers, first we want to say thank-you for your great response regarding the potential 60th birthday cruise for the class of 1981. We had 21 responses (awesome) with 17 interested classmates. With this interest there were some questions regarding the cruise which I will answer with I know of Carnival as well as my cruise experience. All this information I am posting is available on the Carnival Cruise Line website. See image at end of post from Carnival website.

Q- what cruise line are we looking at for the 3-day cruise?

A- We are looking at a 3-day cruise on Carnival Cruise Lines, (Los Angeles to Ensenada) the reason we have chosen Carnival Cruise Line is they are known as the "Fun Ships" as well as they are the only affordable cruise line at the price points we like and for the dates we like (Veterans Day weekend).

Q- Are there other options for rooms other than interior?

A- See cruise flyer, regarding rooms. Obviously, the closer you get to the water (outside room, balcony, mini suite, suite) the more expensive it gets. But especially with mini suites and suites you do get higher end service and better service. All rooms are based on double occupancy.

Q- Expectation of cruise and total cost

A- In my opinion, I have been on many cruises and to me they are very relaxing and enjoyable. They have everything from Broadway quality shows to excellent comedy acts. If you would like to just relax you can also do this and get refreshed. Just FYI while at sea you have very limited to no cell phone service (to me is awesome). If you need to use your phone in Ensenada, Mexico you can purchase an international plan from your cell phone carrier.  Regarding the total cost, the actual cruise cost for your room is just for your steerage on the ship, I will break down other fees that are mandatory as well as optional but recommended.

Mandatory fees:

Port fees $104.20 per person

Non mandatory fees:

Gratuities (you have the option to pay during booking $14.50 per guest per day/ $16.50 a day per guest for Suites) or pay cash at end of cruise to stateroom stewards, dining and culinary staff.

Alcohol, specialty drinks, sodas. Generally, you can buy a soda card/ Alcohol or specialty drink card for a nominal fee.

Cruise cancellation insurance

Specialty restaurants on the ship

Any off-ship tours in Ensenada.

Sue and I will be discussing this week and how we are going to start organizing and setting this up (travel agent). We will have more information early next week.

Thanks

Bill
